Tendon Injuries

Tendon injuries, like tendonitis and tears, occur when tendons—the fibrous tissues linking muscles to bones—become inflamed or damaged due to overuse, repetitive motion, or trauma. Common types include Achilles tendonitis, rotator cuff tears, tennis elbow, and patellar tendonitis, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and weakness, which can hinder daily activities and sports. Without treatment, these injuries can worsen, causing chronic pain and mobility issues.

Physical therapy is vital for rehabilitation, focusing on pain relief, restoring flexibility, and strengthening the area. Treatment begins with rest, ice, and anti-inflammatories. As healing progresses, gentle stretching and strengthening exercises are introduced to enhance recovery and prevent future injuries. Manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, and ultrasound may also aid healing.

Moreover, physical therapists teach proper movement, posture, and activity modifications to avoid reinjury. A structured therapy program promotes safe recovery, enabling individuals to resume their routines and activities. If you’re experiencing tendon pain or weakness, consider physical therapy to restore function and avert long-term complications.
